Vikings Actor Praises ‘Phenomenal’ Jonathan Rhys Meyers In Season 5

Vikings actor Alex Høgh Andersen, who plays Ivar,  has praised the work of newbie antagonist Jonathan Rhys Meyers for his work in season 5.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was introduced into the world of Vikings as Bishop Heahmund in the final scene of the season 4B finale. He is set to play a huge part in season 5 as a series regular being an big antagonist, specifically the arch-enemy of Ivar the Boneless. Could Heahmund be a complete game-changer?

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is well known for his role in The Tudors, which was also written by Vikings creator Michael Hirst.

Speaking with Bleedingcool Alex claimed that Heahmund actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers isn’t just good in his role, but phenomenal. Read what he said below: 

Jonny is phenomenal; it was such a great pleasure working with him. He’s just so intense. His character is really what Michael and I talked about, creating this archenemy for Ivar.”

Talking about the latest enemy to Ivar the Boneless, Alex Høgh Andersen also said that despite their hatred for each other, they both hold a mutual respect. Read what he said about this below: 

“Having these two characters square off is amazing; you’ll see a lot of scenes with these two. The interesting thing is they really understand each other. It’s that thing where you have your biggest enemy and you hate him, but you do understand him. You come from the same place, you have the same ideas and goals, and there is a mutual respect there. You’ll see that.”

Heahmund will undoubtedly kick-ass in season 5, which is now just over a week away. Let the epic battles begin!
