‘The Night Of’ Cancelled By HBO – But One Actor Would Welcome A Return

At one time, it looked as if the drama would get a season 2. It was in line with ‘True Detective’ to be renewed by HBO, but the network only opted to carry on ‘True Detective’. It got cancelled despite HBO programming chief Casey Bloys stating a couple of months back that the network had held positive talks with the creators for a season 2, he said this (about both True Detective & The Night Of): “We are closing in on ideas that they are excited about.”

Now that The Night Of is cancelled, actor John Turturro told THR that he loved playing his character so much he would do another season, should the show be picked up again by HBO which at the moment stands quite unlikely.  Read what he said below:

“I just loved playing the character [Jack Stone], and if they want me to explore that again, I would.”

It’s a real shame its been axed as the crime show got really good reviews in all 9 episodes of its debut season even being nominated for several  awards including: DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television Film/Miniseries & Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Television Movie/Mini-Series/Pilot.
