ITV Confirm Historical Drama ‘Victoria’ WILL Return For A Second Season With Game Of Thrones Actress

The well-received drama has been recommissioned for a second season by ITV.

Given the success of the show, it seemed only a matter of time before it was renewed for a season two, and ITV have now confirmed this. The series was incredibly well received by critics online, who collectively gave the show a fantastic rating of 8.2 on IMDb.

Season 2 will see BAFTA Award-Winning Dame Diana Rigg on-screen again so soon after leaving ‘Game Of Thrones’ as Olenna Tyrell this season. She will be a series regular and will play the Duchess of Buccleuch, the young Queen’s new Mistress of the Robes. ITV also claim that season 2 will see the return of all of our favorites from the first season as well as guest appearances from: Emerald Fennell, Martin Compston, Bruno Wolkowitch and Denis Lawson.

The second season will return with eight episodes, airing next year. We’ll also have a Christmas special to look forward to. How happy are you with the renewal?

Season 2 synopsis from ITV:

“Resuming one month after the first series ended, the new season establishes Victoria as a working mother, learning to balance her responsibilities as both parent and Queen. However, Prince Albert is still struggling to find a role for himself alongside his powerful wife as she returns to her duties, intent on proving that she can be both a mother and dutiful Queen.”
