After the current season of ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ ends, it’s unlikely there will be another, though it would be welcomed.
‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ has without a doubt been a success so far, with fans left hungry for more every week. However, the series we’ve waited over 25 years for concludes on September 3rd 2017 following ‘Part 18’, will there be a second season of the return? Well, we’ve got some bad news for you.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Showtime chief David Nevins insists that zero discussions have taken place about a renewal, and stated that the return was only intended to last one season. See what he said below:
“It was always intended to be one season. A lot of people are speculating but there’s been zero contemplation, zero discussions other than fans asking me about it.”
However, he did say that the door will always be open for a renewal, and a should a decision be made by creator David Lynch to bring it back if he feels the story is not finished, they will most likely renew it. Nevins continued to say:
“The door’s always open to David Lynch, whether that would lead to another season, I don’t know if he wants to do it. This was a Herculean effort. I’m not sure if any director has ever done 18 hours in a row of a series… It’s remarkable what he achieved, fans are liking it and for me that’s what’s satisfying.”
It’s definitely a hard one to judge, whether Twin Peaks should return again, what do you think? It could be that Lynch does not want the show to lose its special feel, he doesn’t want to drag it out and make it become boring.
As it stands, to us, it looks like we won’t see it return again, especially with Kyle MacLachlan saying that by the end of the season it ‘all comes together’ and that it is a perfect end to the show.
