OZARK: Actor Jason Bateman Calls ‘Breaking Bad’ Style Netflix Show His ‘Most Intense’ Work Yet

OZARK is fast becoming a must-watch on Netflix. Read what the show’s star said regarding it being the ‘most intense’ challenge in his career.

‘Ozark’ premiered with high hopes on July 21st, and it’s certainly lived up to, and even exceeded expectations. Arrested Development star Jason Bateman takes the main role in this gritty drama where he plays Marty Byrd, a financial planner and family man who is forced into money laundering for a deadly Mexican drug cartel. Laura Linney co-stars as Marty’s wife Wendy.

The drug nature of the show has seen it gain many comparisons to AMC’s Braking Bad, a show widely known as one of the greatest of all time. Comparisons don’t come much better than that!

Bateman told NME that the new Netflix Original is the ‘most intense’ work of his career. He contrasted it to the show he is most famous for Arrested Development, read what he said below:

“It’s nice in the difference of work because Ozark is drama and Arrested is comedy. My workload on Ozark was bigger and more intense than anything I have ever done while Arrested Development, you could argue, is the easiest thing I do because the people are so great and the writing is so easy and perfectly done and the character is someone I’m very used to. So it’s opposite ends of the spectrum.”

Due to the huge early success of Ozark, Netflix are already seeking to take the opportunity and  renew Ozark for a second season, with a cast member ‘Hopeful’ of a renewal.
