‘True Detective’ Renewed For Season 3 By HBO

HBO’s hit crime drama ‘True Detective’ has been belatedly renewed for a season 3 by the network.

This report comes from multiple highly-regraded sources. ‘True Detective’ comes in on the growing list of other belated season renewals which contains: Better Call Saul, Luther and Silicon Valley. Production should begin later this year and we guess the new season should be on screens by fall 2018 or early 2019.

News also recently emerged that ‘Moonlight’ actor Mahershala Ali is in talks to have a starring role in the new series. Ali won an Oscar for his incredible work on ‘Moonlight’, read a review of that movie here.

A report was send out by Deadline regarding  Mahershala Ali’s possible lead role in the new season:

“We hear talks are at a very early stage and no deal is in place.”

Stay tuned for future ‘True Detective’ updates!

  1. Let’s face it . Season 1 will never be matched leave alone topped. Rust Cohle is the greatest detective character in tv history! McConaughey’s portrayal was simply PERFECT! Can only compare it to Paul Newman as Butch Cassidy-just doesn’t get any better…never watched season 2 , never will watch season 3- unless Rust and Marty come back- for a kick ass script by Nick ( and Nick only) – and unless Cary is the sole director once again….but I know that won’t happen…so once in a while i just rewatch season 1- never gets old…

  2. Well I doubt they can beat season 1 but they can’t do any worse than season 2! Vince Vaughn was never going to be a convincing villain was he! Ali getting cast would be great too, let’s hope it’s a good one
