FX’s upcoming series“Legion” is the first TV series based on Marvel’s X-Men characters, who’ve been portrayed on the big screen in nine feature films from Fox. Creator and executive producer Noah Hawley has dismissed current talk of a potential crossover, but claimed he won’t be ruling it out.
For those who don’t know: Legion is an upcoming American cable television series created for FX by Noah Hawley, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The first episode will premier February 8th on FX.
Creator of the new show, Noah Hawley, has played down the potential of a crossover with X-Men, which would sure be anticipated by fans. Though he won’t be ruling it out. Read his interview taken from Variety below:
“I think it’s important for us to establish this as a fully realized world with fully realized characters,” Hawley says. “It does connect and it can connect, but I’m not relying on that. I have to prove myself. I have to prove that the show is good enough to incorporate those elements from the movie world, if that were ever possible.”
Hawley suggested that he will not be taking popular storylines from the comic books and adapting them for the show. As an example of how such efforts can go wrong, he points to the way that fan-favorite comic-book arc “The Dark Phoenix Saga” was handled in director Brett Ratner’s “X-Men: The Last Stand.”
