Vikings Season 4 Episode 17: Is Lagertha Going To Die? Katheryn Winnick Teases The Fate Of Her Character

This season of ‘Vikings’ has not been shy of killing main characters, so far we have seen the demise of central protagonist Ragnar Lothbrok and his wife Aslaug. But will we also see the death of fan-favorite Lagertha in the next episode, or in the next few to come?

We believe that all of the rumors going could be true. Katheryn Winnick, the actress who portrays Lagertha, on Wednesday hosted a QnA on her official Twitter, in which a fan questioned if she would meet her demise in the next episode.

Winnick hinted that the show does not hold back from killing fan-favorites because it follows real historical events. That is why central protagonist Ragnar had to go, but does that mean she will? We’ll have to wait until Wednesday.

In the opinion of showrunner Michael Hirst, the character is vital for the story. “She is the soul of the show and I need her,” Hirst had earlier said.

Hirst even quipped that he might go against the history. “There’s a feminist collective in New York who wrote to me a couple years ago and they said, ‘We don’t’ care how many of the male characters you kill off, but if you do anything to Lagertha, you’re in trouble.’ So I’m very careful about that warning,” he told TV Guide.

However, going by Hirst statements in the past, the chances of him modifying the original story are rare. He said in a recent interview, “I don’t write fancy. In this show children grow up, and people get older, and die. I’m proud of that. It’s about real people and real events. It’s not fancy.”
