Sultan – Review 2016 (Spoiler Free) | DragonFeed

Review by Robert Voss

This is a spoiler free review so do not expect me to go into too much detail. Read this if you are unsure about viewing this movie.

In this movie Salman Khan portrays Sultan, a middle-aged wrestling champion who tries to make a comeback to represent India at the Olympic Games. This film is exciting, romantic and follows an intriguing adventure in the sport in which it is based [wrestling].

I have to say I was slightly disappointed with this film, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it. It wasn’t terrible but it had potential so be so much better and exceed the heights that it did. For a true wrestling fan I think that they could really like this movie.

The acting was brilliant, you couldn’t pick a better actor to portray Sultan. The story was entertaining, but not necessarily a completely original concept. The music worked perfectly with the film and was never overwhelming at any point.

In terms of it’s production, this film was well produced, I couldn’t spot any mistakes regarding continuity or the like. Cinematography was fine and there were some really great shots taken. The fight choreography looked really good also. Some scenes were repetitive and became boring and flat at times.

All of the problems lie in the storytelling, it was told in a poor way, which is reflected throughout the film.

There is not really much more I can say as this is a spoiler free review.

Overall, if you like Salman Khan I would recommend you watch this film, chances are you might really enjoy it. Otherwise I would give it a miss and watch something else.
